Central to the innovation in RESPOSCY is the training of divers to become Posidonia Gardeners
Key local stakeholders such as diving clubs, diving schools and volunteer divers will be empowered through educational workshops that will aim
to raise awareness about the importance of Posidonia oceanica meadows, their current status and pressures around Cyprus,
train divers on seagrass transplant and monitoring good practices and
form a network of at least 100 volunteer divers who will become Posidonia Gardeners and assist restoration and monitoring efforts.
To facilitate the training of Posidonia Gardeners, the project team will develop an educational toolkit composed of leaflets, short videos, manual, and a documentary, informing of the ecological importance of Posidonia oceanica, citizen science monitoring methodologies, and best practices in restoration.
